Adding to an Existing License

Adding a new teaching field to your Indiana Teachers License:

Completing and submitting the application for an ADDITION to an Indiana Teaching License:

NOTE: The following information is applicable if you have completed the coursework for the addition through IUB. If you have completed the coursework elsewhere, contact that institution. If you have questions, contact the IUB certification office at (812) 856-8511.

  1. Complete the entire application (State Form 9331)
  2. Attach the limited criminal history check which you have obtained from the Indiana State Police. NOTE: Some school systems will obtain the criminal history check for employees. Contact your school system for further information
  3. Attach a $35.00 money order or cashier’s check made payable to the State of Indiana.
  4. Attach the ORIGINAL Indiana teaching license to which the additional subject area will be added.
  5. Submit all materials to: Certification Office, School of Education, Room 1000, 201 N Rose, Bloomington, IN 47405
Professionalizing your Indiana Teachers License:

If you obtained your Master’s degree from IU Bloomington, and have at least 5 years teaching experience in your licensed area, you may professionalize your license through IUB. Follow the check list at the IPSB web site listed above, or contact (812) 856-8511 for more information
