"Promoting Social Justice Through Education"

What is Project TEAM?

Project TEAM (Transformative Education Achievement Model) is an important part of the School of Education's efforts to prepare teachers or culturally diverse student populations. The primary purpose of Project TEAM is to offer a community within the School of Education that provides academic, social, personal, and financial support for students who wish to become teachers. Project Team has been in existence since 1996.

  • Individualized advising and program planning
  • Preparation for the National Teacher Exam (NTE)
  • Outreach with middle and secondary schools
  • Degree options in College of Arts and Science or School of Education
  • Choice of teacher education major in early child-hood, elementary, secondary, or all-grades (e.g. music, art, physical education, or special education)
  • Summer camp instruction for middle school student
  • Optional recruitment work in home communities
  • Financial Assistance for educational expenses
Who Should Apply?

Project TEAM seeks to recruit talented students from diverse backgrounds who wish to become teachers in urban or culturally diverse schools. Both education and non-education majors may apply. Students from underrepresented minority backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 26 credit hours (provisional acceptance for freshman)
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Community Service Record
  • Interest in becoming a teacher
