The Language Education Department teaches current and future teachers how to teach and research in the areas of English Education, Foreign and Second Language Education, and Literacy/Reading Education. The department offers graduate and undergraduate programs which prepare students to work in education at the elementary, secondary, and college levels.

- STILLA-2008 (First Biennial Symposium on Teaching Indigenous Languages of Latin America) is scheduled for August 14-16, 2008. Dr. Serafin M. Coronel-Molina (Language Education) is the founder and principal convenor of this permanent and international forum on indigenous issues. This event is also co-sponsored by the Department of Language Education.
