A cohort-based program (limited to 18-24 students per year), begins study each fall semester. There are two tracks within the program: certification-only and certification-plus-master's degree. Students in both tracks study together in the same clusters of classes, but they enroll in different course numbers for their field experiences and related seminars. Students in the master's track also must take an additional 12 graduate credits, including E579, a course that prepares students for doing the capstone inquiry project that is the final requirement for the master's degree. Professional coursework is divided into two categories: field-based and campus-based. Field-based blocks must be taken together and are offered once per year; campus-based courses may be completed at any time they are offered. Some courses may be substituted by undergraduate courses with permission of program director.
