Volunteer Opportunities

Here are some of the many ways to be active and involved with the Indiana University School of Education.

• Become a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA). www.alumni.indiana.edu/membership
• Recruit five new dues-paying members to the IUAA.
• Become a member of Hoosiers for Higher Education, a statewide organization dedicated to promoting higher education in Indiana. www.indiana.edu/~hhe/
• Identify students who may be interested in the School of Education and encourage them to visit campus.
• Attend an alumni event in your area.
• Attend an alumni chapter meeting in your area.
• Write the alumni magazine about the lasting impact a certain professor has had on your life.
• Assist with student recruitment efforts for IU in your area. (This could be helping with IUB’s college fair in your area or recruitment for IUPUI or a regional campus.)
• Help distribute IUB and other campuses’ athletic schedules and posters in your area.
• Attend and promote campus athletic events.
• Clip news articles and obituaries from local newspapers about IU alumni and forward to the IUAA records department.
• Become an annual donor to the School of Education.
• Identify major gift prospects for the School of Education ($10,000+).
• Identify prospects for naming opportunities for scholarships, fellowships, rooms, etc.
• Purchase an IU license plate (for residents of Indiana, Tennessee and New York).
• Attend an IU continuing education class.
• Sign up for the IUAA’s permanent e-mail forwarding service: alumni.indiana.edu/connect/index.shtml
• Subscribe to the IUAA electronic newsletter.
• Suggest to a friend that he or she subscribe to the IUAA electronic newsletter or a club e-newsletter.
• Identify potential advertisers for the IU alumni magazine.
• Find a classmate in the online directory and e-mail him/her the School of Education web address.
• Review and update your alumni record online
• Forward an IU web page to a friend.
• Post an online class note www.indiana.edu/~alumni/classnotes/
• Attend a class reunion.
• Attend Homecoming events.
• Plan a family outing to a campus event.
• Attend an Alumni Campus Abroad program, alumni travel/tour program, and/or Mini University.
• Take a photograph at an IUAA event and e-mail it to iuaaweb@indiana.edu
• Put an IUAA decal on your car.
• Buy and wear IU merchandise.
• Become a mentor for a current student education.indiana.edu/~educalum
• Contact the School of Education if you have or intend to include the School in your estate plan.
