Below is a selected list of foundations that fund education-related projects.

Andrew W. Mellon Foundation The Foundation supports higher education and scholarship projects, one of their six areas of focus.

Carnegie Corporation The Corporation has carried out Carnegie's vision of philanthropy by building on his two major concerns: international peace and advancing education and knowledge.

John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation The main focus of Foundation's grantmaking in education is to gain a better understanding of how digital technologies are changing how young people learn, play, socialize, exercise judgment, and engage in civic life.

Lilly Endowment, Inc. The main objective of the Endowment's education grantmaking is to raise the educational attainment level of Indiana citizens.

Lumina Foundation The Foundation supports programs that promote access and attainment in postsecondary education in the United States, particularly among traditionally underserved student groups. Note: Any funding requests must be approved by the office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs.

Pew Charitable Trusts Pew focuses on access to early education and K-12 educational standards.

Russell Sage Foundation The Foundation dedicates itself exclusively to strengthening the methods, data, and theoretical core of the social sciences as a means of improving social policies.

Spencer Foundation Through its research programs, fellowships, and training programs, the Foundation supports the investigation of education through research.

William T. Grant Foundation The Foundation's mission focuses on improving the lives of youth ages 8 through 25 in the United States.

William T. Grant Distinguished Fellowsletter of inquiry due January 8, 2009.  The goal of this program is to increase the supply of, demand for, and use of high-quality research in the service of improved youth outcomes and well-being.
