The Elementary Certification Master's Program (ECMP) is for those individuals who have already earned a baccalaureate degree and who are interested in becoming elementary teachers. This three-semester and one summer session, K-6 program is designed to develop and support thoughtful, innovative practices and reflective teaching in elementary schools. A cohort-based program (limited to 18-24 students per year), begins study each fall semester. The last fall semester, students take, EDUC E579, a course that prepares students for doing the capstone inquiry project that is the final requirement for the master's degree.
  • Secondary Transition to Teaching (ST-to-T) - The ST-to-T certification program was initiated in July 2003. Because of the extensive field experience scheduled during the school day, the program is considered full-time. In order to ensure that program completers meet all standards required of beginning teachers, the program includes an initial summer session (June - August) and two academic semesters. The program meets the state mandated 18-credit hour licensure program requirement. Additional fees are charged for field experience, student teaching, and related seminars.
