The aim of the Center Adolescent and Family Studies (CAFS) is to fill this gap by helping to bring scientifically based information to communities, families, and mental health and youth service professionals so that the emerging breakthroughs of behavioral intervention science can be integrated into the fabric of everyday lives, into community practice, and into systems of care. Thus, our projects focus on behavioral intervention science through research, dissemination of findings, and training so that youth serving professionals can use the most current evidence based approaches in helping adolescents and their families. To meet these goals CAFS focuses on behavioral intervention sciences by utilizing the best of advanced clinical trial and translational research studies aimed at identifying the most effective prevention and treatment programs in the domains of social, behavioral, and mental health problems. We also have major efforts in dissemination and training of evidence-based intervention programs for adolescent behavior problems housing one of the most accessed web based information clearing houses, a National Training Institute for Functional Family Therapy (a major intervention program for adolescent and families problems), and a technical assistance program to help communities initiate evidence based programs.
