Child, Adolescent, and Family Intervention Science Initiative is a project of the Center for Adolescent and Family Studies and Indiana University Research Intitative Program which serves as national center for the dissemination and study of evidence-based ("what works") prevention and treatment methods and programs for children and adolescents at risk for learning and behavior problems.
We identify and disseminate information on:
- “what works,” with a focus on child learning and adolescent behavior problems
- newly established research findings
- promising initiatives that help communities, schools, mental health agencies, and juvenile justice authorities to be effective service delivery systems. (Service Delivery Systems are communities, schools, mental health, juvenile justice, child welfare, and so on. They have resources, values, a climate, structure, a hierarchical organization, and they deliver something, though different, for the benefit of youths and their families.)
Why: The Bottom Line
Ultimately, as service delivery systems gain access to these resources, they will become able to identify, implement and evaluate treatment and prevention programs for helping at-risk children and their families.
The CAFISI Clearinghouse
This website is the CAFISI clearinghouse for resources on evidence-based practices, theoretical perspectives, and cutting-edge research on difficult behavior and learning problems. The site is uniquely geared toward separate audiences, all of which depend on access to the best approaches in the field for working effectively with children and adolescents. This site is organized so that professionals, community service agencies and parents are directed towards materials that can help them understand these problems, and interventions that are appropriate for their use with kids.
