  • Be certain that you have been fully admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
  • Sign up for an application meeting. Sign up sheets will be available in the School of Education atrium in the fall. If you cannot make it into the School of Ed to sign up, call our office to schedule your meeting.
  • Attend application meeting in the School of Education auditorium. These meetings are absolutely required for all prospective student teachers. Meetings are held during the fall semester before the academic school year you will be student teaching.
  • Two weeks from the Application Meeting you attended, you will check your online application and turn in your paper application folder to the Student Teaching Office:

  • Save a hard copy version and a disk version of your paper application in case additional copies or revisions are needed.
  • *NEW* Email a copy of your Student Teaching Application to STUTEACH@indiana.edu . Type "Student Teaching Application" into the subject line. Make sure to save your application file using the following naming convention: lastname_firstname_application.
  • Complete TEIS before turning in your paper application.
  • Attend a pre-professional meeting the semester prior to student teaching.
  • Obtain a criminal history check several months before student teaching begins. You will not be allowed to student teach unless you obtain this. Many school corporations will require a criminal background check prior to placement, or maybe prior to even seeking placement.
